The nature of skilled worker is we are effectively recruited to do jobs there are not enough native canadians to do, so its not quite the same as open immigration, but the irony of potential...

Makes sense on that level, but not being an economist I'm just looking out for #1 and what comes out of my pocket. Besides, tax rates in the developed world are all broadly similar, not different...

Thing is what counts as "Tax" in that context. The figures Ive seen for total tax burden have Canada doing pretty well. Its an irrelevent discussion anyway, most people are not driven to a location...

Do you even know what you are on about? Living in Ontario I pay 26% total to the government, all taxes, unemployment, medicare, pension. Less than in the UK, less than many US states too.

Its possible though, I pay $220 monthly for oil and about $150 for Hydro:(

I stopped after skimming down to $50 for the phone service!!! It's patently bollox, I pay $37, and thats including being ex directory and a $8 service / maintainence agreement. If you are paying...
