Re: Pet Peeves?

TV advert for the Salvation Army. Story about a girl who buys a new coat, then meets a poor homeless without one. Does she give the new coat to the girl? No. Does she give her old coat to the girl?...

Re: Pet Peeves?

In the grocery store, so many items come in three sizes - regular, large, and extra large. Except the extra large is only slightly larger than the large, and often it isn't even better value...

Re: Pet Peeves?

My car is on a lot with a thousand other cars. It doesn't cost them an extra $1000 per day for the 2-3 security guards to get $2 per hour more. Admin and book keeping are fixed costs, that's where...

Re: Pet Peeves?

All unavoidable taxes and fees should be included. Buying a ticket for anything is an endless list of unannounced fees. The worst are fees that don't make sense - parking my car near the airport they...

Re: Pet Peeves?

Bears are a risk in many places I hike, so awareness of nearby noises is essential. Still never seen one though. Cyclists are are more likely risk though, they'll take you down if you can't hear them...

Re: Pet Peeves?

The frogs get really loud near me at certain times of year (they started up a few weeks ago but have gone quiet again since the cold snap). Got loads of water runoff ponds around, so they all hangout...

Re: Pet Peeves?

When the stop line is set too far back from the junction, people just ignore it and drive right over it, stopping at the junction itself. Gives me a heart attack every time, thinking that I am about...

Re: Pet Peeves?

When I was in the middle east they had little squirting jets attached to the side of a regular toilet bowl. I guess the water they have there is somewhat warmer though, a squirt of ice-cold Scottish...

Re: Pet Peeves?

I even looked it up on the DOT website and it didn't explain it clearly - I had to watch a video on Youtube to see what the phrase really meant.

Re: Pet Peeves?

On the subject of tolls, a freeway near me has a toll/HOV lane. When there is no toll, it says "OPEN TO ALL" instead of a simple "no toll" or "no fee", which is confusing and therefore fewer people...

Re: Pet Peeves?

All the roundabouts near me have zebra crossings right next to them. Easy way to block the whole roundabout with one pedestrian. Luckily, Americans tend not to walk much so the crossings don't get...

Re: Pet Peeves?

Recipes typically use quarts for anything larger than a couple of cups. One of my jugs only has markings on it for quarts - actually it is marked every half-quart!

Re: Pet Peeves?

Pet peeve: quarts. The most ridiculously and inappropriately used measurement. Nearly always used where pints or ounces would make far more sense.

Re: Pet Peeves?

I've often wondered why women are so obsessed with having long thick eyelashes. If you ask men about the top physical things they look for in a woman, I doubt eyelashes would even make the top 25. I...

Re: Pet Peeves?

Invest the money you saved from not having kids into a nice carehome and hope you don't outlive the cash to stay there.

Re: Pet Peeves?

Friend of mine overpaid for some hatchimals last month. Apparently they are only "fun" for the few hours up until they hatch, then they become really boring and just repeat noises at you. The "fun"...

Re: Pet Peeves?

Teenager was watching a tv show on his phone in the waiting room. 90% of Dragonball Z sounds like people with constipation competing to poop, the other 10% they are just yelling at each other.

Re: Pet Peeves?

It could be that the road sensor is in a dumb place, and doesn't get tripped by a car every time. My workplace lights have the sensor really far forward, so it is never tripped unless you are halfway...

Re: Pet Peeves?

Re: Pet Peeves?
