Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

Fred Meyer is currently selling orange flavoured Pimm's (not the drink, the little cherry cakes) which are pretty similar to Jaffa Cakes.

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

My grocery store has stopped selling Branston pickle! Might have to bite the bullet and pay the ridiculous price demanded by my local British food store.

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

All the foods I miss the most are mostly sugar or fat. I've managed to find a place that does an aniseed taffy that tastes enough like a Black Jack to fill my cravings. Not the same in texture...

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

Those near Lynnwood, WA, there's a shop in Alderwood Mall called Lollipop that sells sweets from around the world. British section is pretty good and has things like Curly Whirly and Flake for $3.

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

Fred Meyer sells crumpets but they aren't very nice. A bit rubbery.

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

Have you tried any of them? None of them seem to be what I would consider to be typical of British food, they are just similar but different.

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

They do triple packs of Pataks in Costco, although two of the jars are of the same sauce (I forget which)

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

That's an easy one compared to something like 0513. You have to consider if the last two digits are the day or year, by thinking about whether the food would last that long - easy for some things but...

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

Looks like they still have those mystery brand wine gums instead of Maynards. They used to have lots of weird brands that I'd never heard of, but now they have mostly the wellknownbrand stuff.

Re: British Stuff I can buy at Kroger!

My supermarket has more curry stuff imported from Britain than it does from India/Pakistan/Blangladesh/USA.

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

$9 was at Fred Meyer, who are owned by Kroger. I'll recheck the price again this weekend, but it was like that for a couple of years at least. My local Trader Joes seem a bit variable.

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

The only Weetabix I find costs $9 a box, and it's tiny. I'll stick to my huge $2 generic bran flakes.

Everyone always asks me what I think of a local "british" restaurant. Despite the owners being...

Re: UK Foods in the US Share your finds!

That explains why I haven't been able to find it recently. I had to make do with corned beef hash in a can instead. Not even sure what to do with the weird stuff that Americans eat on St Patrick's...
