I do agree, they show a photo of a big flash detached house in Australia and some pokey little terrace in the UK for balance, you have to love the Daily Fail. :rofl:

I can't speak for Grayling but we always lived in nice areas, just like here we would see bad areas but haven't lived one in either country.

What a sweeping generalisation, I would hazard a guess and say that millions of people are getting pay rises and moving between jobs. a couple of % difference in unemployment doesn't make it chalk...

I think you will find that the average wage in this country is some way under 70k and for a female even lower.

We have a good friend who went to London for 9 months to work and absolutely loved it, he was paid more than where he worked in Brisbane and he says the COL was lower.

Yes absolutely, England set us up to buy our place here in Brisbane and now hopefully that property will enable us to fulfill the next chapter.

The analogy I tend to use with regard our hobby/work is that here we have the choice between a Ford or a Holden whereas in the UK we can add Porsche, Aston Martin, BMW and Bentley. Of course that...

I've never been money orientated so will never be rich but I am rich in other ways. For us personally our quality of life when taking everything into account is far higher in England. I don't care...

As a long time resident the thing that strikes me is the speed of increase in the cost of living, years ago this country was way cheaper that the UK but that has changed dramatically.
