Engineering mainly. That's where it differs to banking. I suspect and I could be wrong, but Australian banking probably doesn't generate the type of capital you'll see in Europe or NY

The 457 LAHFA's in my office were having a bit of a chat about it during the week so I asked the question. 'Will you be better off working in the UK without it'. Not a single one said yes.

The EPCM market fell on its arse because China's appetite for minerals dropped, and the need for new projects subsided - for now.

It has for my colleagues, though my company has offered to financially support the difference until next pay review when those who were on LAHFA can take it up with their managers.

In my company all 457 holders are given free private medical insurance by the company, and those who are from reciprating countries also get access to Medicare on top.

Before I moved to Australia I worked with lots of Australians in London who were sponsered all of which were at the mercy of our employer and if they lost their jobs their visa's were in jeopardy....
