Re: Will you still emigrate when the Canadian recession kicks in?

Re: Will you still emigrate when the Canadian recession kicks in?

These were the sorts of views put forward in the US around 1812 and during the Civil War when a lot of slaves were escaping to Canada. Didn't happen then, won't happen now. It's a really old...

Re: Will you still emigrate when the Canadian recession kicks in?

I have to say I was highly suspicious of my citizenship ceremony because there weren't any Chinese or Indians at all but there were loads when I took the test. I'd say more than half were Chinese. ...

Re: Will you still emigrate when the Canadian recession kicks in?

It will never happen because the US is so much larger in population than other North American countries, and those countries would fear a loss of sovereignty, plus Americans by and large are pretty...

Re: Will you still emigrate when the Canadian recession kicks in?

Well I meant it more broadly than just this forum, whinging about something and offering some opinion about something to me is the British national pastime, I often hear Americans, Australians, etc....

Re: Will you still emigrate when the Canadian recession kicks in?

Look at the housing prices in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary etc. and compare them with most of the US. I'm not saying it's universally the case but it is often brought up as an issue when trying to...

Re: Will you still emigrate when the Canadian recession kicks in?

A lot of Americans still think the 9/11 attackers came through Canada - they're incredibly paranoid and xenophobic, e.g....

Re: Will you still emigrate when the Canadian recession kicks in?

No, it wasn't a major factor for me, although the low taxes in Alberta did appeal. When people ask me why I moved to Canada that is a long list of reasons, I would never permanently move somewhere...

Re: Will you still emigrate when the Canadian recession kicks in?

That's not what you have in Europe right now, the Schengen Agreement and various other treaties make it clear that countries can return people who are economic migrants who are simply sponging off...

Re: Will you still emigrate when the Canadian recession kicks in?
