I have just completed a P85 on line, but at no point did it ask for documentation proof of my living in the US.
When this whole saga started some 3 years ago I completed...

We completed P85 yesterday on line. Don't know how much it will solve my issues, as we left the UK 20 years ago, but I'm trying all options at the moment to try and solve my tax...

Hello everyone,

Here I am again in the other world realm of dealing with HMRC....

As this thread explains, in 2021 I had many calls with HMRC, and sent documentation to them 3 times...

No I did not....... In 2004 I had even received a letter from HRMC saying that due to my changed circumstances (move to the US) they would not be issuing any more end of year tax statements for...

..... I have had a US address for 20 years, and I still got deducted tax when I started my UK State pension. Nothing is automatic..... however you could be lucky.:thumbsup:

Further to the above saga, I today received a letter from the HMRC stating that all my back tax demands have been nullified. The letter does NOT state anything about me being a UK non resident, but...

It's an attractive proposition but at some time I'm going to be applying for my UK private pension and if I don't sort this out now they'll be taxing me on that too....:ohmy:

Again phoned HRMC. Was on hold for 30 minutes but then spoke to a very polite young man. After going through my problem, AGAIN., he put me on hold while he went off to look to see what documents...

I have lived in US for 20 years.
Started drawing my UK State Pension in 2018 and received tax demand for year 2018-2019.
Immediately sent HRMC form Form US Individual and form 8802 - Certification...
