Right, so its valid from xx/11/17 to xx/05/18.

To me that says visa is valid between those dates and that is when it has to be activated by entry to the UK.

Is this a valid from and to date? If so, then the dates could mean that the visa has to be activated between those dates.

What does the visa actually state?
