There is no easy way for you to obtain the papers you need to live in the UK legally, without a great deal of assistance from immigration...

As per other post - no NHS services for wife and unless your son has a British passport none for him either.

As you have not mentioned your son before is he eligible for a British passport?

- Get a second job
- Live and work in Europe where your girlfriend could join you as partner of EU citizen exercising rights
- Move to Russia
- Continue the long term relationship...

Agreed. My point was that she returned to the US to have treatment because she was unable to pay the upfront costs of her treatment in the UK and then wait for reimbursement.

It is a well know fact that the majority of health care costs are spent in the last 2 to 5 years of one's life. People in long term care (nursing homes/assisted living) can be in those facilities...

You used to be able to that, but the rules have changed quite recently (16th July this year) after the McCarthy judgement in the European Court, and anyone who holds both UK and another EEA...
