Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

The enforcement of it is a little sketchy. When you register for an NHS number(a GP surgery) they should ask a full set of questions, but they didn't ask my wife, who is currently here on a spouse...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

Absolute spurious non-sense. You still aren't providing any evidence or facts, just arbitrary assertions and jumping ahead to unsubstantiated and irrelevant conclusions.

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

Who cares who is short the pound, even if the volumes validate your assertion, it could be a hedge against another position or anything. Nobody cares about the pound, most of the time it gets moved...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

That's right, they'd have to pay for any referral or similar to a specialist.

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

You know that data only refers to a 2008 report's estimate of tax revenue from the countries accepted to the EU in the last wave of 2005. So it is based on three years worth of data from 2009,...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

Were you the one who said British trains don't stop if the drivers can't be bothered to?Where is the evidence of your claim that UK born citizens actually take more out of the system?

Unless you...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

People without ILR get a basic level of NHS cover,so it's disingenuous to say that. The NHS is a totally different thing in concept and execution than something like this

Surely non-citizens don't...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

Oh right, that's good re the dog.

You'd hope to be within walking distance of shops for general groceries, certainly in most of the places we've talked about. If there is a train/ tube/ metro...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

I don't agree with that at all.

The bus may be cheaper, but if you book a train on your terms (eg. in advance, off-peak in a day) it doesn't have to be as expensive as you make out. Anybody who...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

Do you not need to be a British citizen for things like this? It just says passport, but it does say UK driving licence, if it's government funded you'd think it would be.

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

It tends to be pretty much the same everywhere, I look at people's council tax every day and it tends to be around 100 a month, less for single person's allowance. But what does vary is the band you...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

This looks really good.

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-to-rent/property-40014026.html Whitley Bay is a really nice area too, near the main "Metro" system and a small town on the coast in...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

You'd still have to pay for transport of some description. But as I said, I feel you'll struggle with finding any kind of reasonably priced car insurance in the short-medium term.

I think you'd...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

What was your budget for housing again?

I'd say food is on a par if not slightly cheaper than the US now, certainly things like chicken and pork, which are of a far superior quality. Certainly...

Hexham is on the train line from Newcastle to Cumbria and generally convenient/ has better houses.

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

Corbridge is really nice, so is Rothbury, but as the other poster said they are fairly expensive (as well as Hexham, Alnwick etc) and no trains in Rothbury. I don't know if the OP still has this...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

They are infinitely better than any passenger service in the US though and as for missing stops, not on any train I've ever been on and I've used a lot. They can't (shouldn't) do that.

What is...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

You are talking about paying a lot more for a house though and not much of a different standard of living. Given her budget is restrictive and her income is more fixed than dependent on a local job...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

Diesel is more expensive than petrol now and an immigrant has to pass their driving test after a year. So if one thinks they'll learn as they do for a while (maybe after a few lessons) then fine,...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

There isn't any need to live in the South if you don't need to for work. It's more expensive and everywhere outside of London has the same kind of set up. Like I and others have said, try somewhere...

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

It isn't generous, it's based on what she and her late husband paid. It's a pension, not benefits.

Re: American again, requesting relo ideas

I thought you didn't understand why it was so high, but you know it is based on her and her late husband's contributions. Mystery solved.
