Medicaid - Highly state dependent. In GA if you are of working age and are not disabled/pregnant you aren't entitled. Period.

Pell Grant - irrelevant for someone not studying.

No one here is a ‘foreigner’ for the purposes of understanding the lack of US safety net. In fact a good proportion of those that commented are US Citizens.

Honestly I've hardly driven a V8 at all, I don't tow all that much and even when doing so the 3.5L turbo gives more torque than a V8 at lower speeds anyway - plus the fuel economy. V8s just seem so...

You bought the wrong truck if you’re only getting 12 mpg. Mine (when it was in one piece) got at least 17-19 and sometimes 20-21

1.4L mazda Protege. It sups gas and it's $2.60 a gallon here in GA.

Helps that it's like a little go kart and weighs nothing :rofl:

250 miles a week to work and back. I spend about $25 on my little run around.

When I was driving my truck, it was more like $70 a week.

It's important to note here that, unlike the UK, you are talking about several different 'governments' when you talk about it in the US.

The state you are in may well offer unemployment benefits...

I think Boiler actually makes a good point - do you worry about knife crime in the UK? If not, gun violence is really no more prevalent in the US when considering the comparable populations of the UK...

I agree with the above - bad things happen to good people all the time, and the reality is you are far more likely to die in a car wreck then you are being shot by a stranger. The whole 'gun' thing...
