Once you have submitted your I-829 petition to the USCIS you get two letters in the post. One letter extends your conditional green card validity for 12 months and the other letter is an apointment...

As far as I know If you get denied your conditional LPR status is withdrawn on the day you get denied and then you are put in deportation proceedings by the immigration authorities and have to go in...

Only received the RFE on Friday 13th (great isnt it ) and I have e-mailed Henry Lieberman at Amlife but still waiting for a reply
