Could I just clarify something with you all? For just a visit to the UK the maximum time is six months right? Has this changed at all?

That's great news. I'm applying for my sons from the U.S. too. I was expecting two months or more to wait. I can't wait to get this whole process moving.

Agh! It's all so confusing. I'm assuming some paperwork showing our finances and where we will be staying and supported will be handy though.

Is a family visitor visa something you need if you are coming over for a holiday now? I spoke to another person who said they had to fill some application out before they went for a visit home...

I'm not sure I've seen the answer to this anywhere but can you apply for your child's passport while in the uk rather than the country he was born in?

After reading the financial requirements to get my Wife and Son home it looks like this is not going to be an easy, if possible even, task at all. It looks like a lot of stress will be heading my way.

Oh he has his US passport already. We got that for him immediately and then stupidly dragged our feet about his UK one. Mainly out of ignorance at not knowing how everything works really.

Thank you. It sounds like the best option would be just to apply for it while we are here. Although i think he does have his consular birth certificate already.
