Interest rates arent determined by the government, thay are set by the Bank of England which is an 'independant' body, although how independant is difficult to say!!

Tom a small differece in rate wont have a huge impact on £2k, but your broker should still offer a forward on any amount

i use Cornhill FX and they have stipulated that they have no minimum for...

oil prices are down a bit, this is one of the biggest contributirs to the exchange rate, its looking good now that its above 1.90!

I think you were looking at tourist rates both sides of the market, 2.01 would be the rate to sell Canadian, and 1.79 to but, just shows how much money banks make on exchange

I agree with you there about strong resistance at 1.90, i think anyone needing some in the next few weeks its worth taking somethign in the high 1.80's, i bought a bit with Cornhill FX this afternoon...
