Re: 1.93's A$ to the Pound!!!

I found electrical stuff, electronics, games, gadgets to be pretty much the same, if not cheaper here. CDs and DVDs are cheaper in the UK. I guess clothes are cheaper there but I buy clothes once a...

Re: 1.93's A$ to the Pound!!!

Yes. This graph does not tell the whole story as it has been 20:1 to GBP in the past as well as 1.80:1 (in the early '80s).

Re: 1.93's A$ to the Pound!!!

Renth, you may be right but there are a million articles out there that say it is. I'm going to drop out of this debate as I don't know enough about it. All I know is, with economics nothing is...

Re: 1.93's A$ to the Pound!!!

Are they major shifts though? Okay, AUD is at a record against USD (strong Aussie economy to blame), but GBP has been much weaker against USD before. USD/EUR is similar to what it was in 2006. Weaker...

Re: 1.93's A$ to the Pound!!!

Actually it's not. Fill in a form, get a certified copy of your passport and something from the ATO showing your TFN and you're done. All you need for kids is a certified copy of their birth...

Re: 1.93's A$ to the Pound!!!

We've just put a whole lot of GBP into Premium Bonds in the UK because:
Interest rates in the UK are a joke because they are so low that it's not a loss putting money into PBs
We have a chance of...

Re: 1.93's A$ to the Pound!!!

Re: 1.93's A$ to the Pound!!!

Until (if) the UK sorts it's shit out, I wouldn't be so bullish about the GBP - it went down against the Euro and USD this week.

Cars, electronics etc have come down in price due to stronger AUD....

Re: 1.93's A$ to the Pound!!!

The value of our UK cash (in relation to the AUD) has just jumped a lot and I've already bought our GBP and Euro holiday money.

Re: 1.93's A$ to the Pound!!!

I have also already bought our holiday GBP and Euros and we have money over there too. I also think the Euro has some more pain ahead, so rate could get better for us as well.

Don't say it can...
