-24 is pretty much as cold as it gets here in NS with some "proper cold" days thrown in. I find it painful when it gets below -26 but thankfully its not there that long

I just found it miserable being soggy all day, nothing to do with manning up. If I am paying money to go to a park then I want to enjoy it

Hmmmmm - interesting choice of words.
It sounds to me like the OP is right at the start of this journey and will probably be able to direct their focus more on specific and "decent" questions soon...
