You'll be lucky to get a titchy sized apartment for RM 1000 a month, at least up in the north of the island.

I would have thought that it would be far cheaper to rent in Sungai Petani. Any reason...

Penang has different thresholds for (a) foreigners and (b) MM2h foreigners. I guess you may know that?

I know for condos, mm2hers can buy at 500k. other foreigners it's 1 million. i'm not sure...
