Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

Honestly, Bob, that looks like something I'd eat the shit out of. Unfortunate bum-hole issues notwithstanding.

Obviously, Chicago style is the best, but variety is the spice of life, and all that.

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

It would be one of the things I would miss most if I were to ever return to the UK as well. Just wouldn't be the same.

I've been caught out with the spice too from time to time! One of the...

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

Well, I don't have quite that much variety up here, and it'd need to be severely good to warrant the 60 mile drive, but I get your point :D

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

Same here. I never really gave it much thought actually, because I was never really exposed to it back home. As soon as I tried proper Mexican food here I was hooked.

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

Pizza Hut isn't bad, especially if you want something quick and easy. I often wonder what I'd do if we moved too far out of the area (I could handle just over the line into WI because there are...

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

Usually every year on the Friday before Christmas at work we get a lunch ordered in catered by Portillo's :)

Sorry about the bad pizza in STL. Also, **** the Cards :sneaky:

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

I'm about 60 miles away from Chicago so I only ever get takeaway from places close to me. Never had a bad Chicago style dog though.

The only place I've got takeaway from in Chicago itself is Al's...

Best not to think about that and just enjoy your hot dog

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

Vienna Beef is where it's at. Hard to find outside Chicago though.

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

As long as it gets the garlicy taste close enough, most things like that should work.

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

Nice one. You can probably get Doner kebabs (or ones closer to them than gyros are anyway) in and around Chicago, but I'm out in the far suburbs so they have yet to find me.

But combining...

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

Yes, or that nice creamy garlic sauce my local kebabbery (new word I invented) used to do. Tzatziki sauce is OK, but not a patch on chili sauce or garlic sauce. Or both of them together ...

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

Burritos for all occasions

Not sure how big the Greek presence is out your way, but I've found that gyros are a half decent filler-inner for kebabs these days.

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

At least by losing last year, you gave the Indians a chance to blow that 3-1 lead.

That never gets old ...

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

We have a nesting pair that live round our way, but I've only ever seen them in flight, at a distance.

Now, if you like blue jays (which I do), our yard is the place to be. They've been carrying...

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

Ribeyes are good. Get them nice and thick, cook them nice and rare, plenty of butter. Great stuff.

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

The Eurocopter EC135 already does an adequate job of keeping you awake during the night in July when the PSNI senses there might be some smicks causing trouble in town.

Of course he found it. ...

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

The trick is getting up there and leaving the houses intact.

Lots of windy, hilly streets in the Cavehill/Antrim Road area of Belfast - big, wide, shitty things like Humvees that have the turning...

Re: What I like about America. [A politics-free thread]

It's OK, because the kind citizens of Belfast like to throw helpful little bottles of petrol at the police, playfully containing a flaming rag, so they could fill up for free if they are quick enough.

It was more for the Life on Mars connection, but yeah that would work.

Nobody does a police van quite like us lot on the other side of the Irish Sea, of course.
