Remember when showing the airline you passport (check-in / bag drop / boarding) to show the passport you used when booking the tickets regardless of which one you use at Immigration.

Entering using the passport on the passenger locator form would allow you to use the e-gates, which should be faster (just checked and Canadian passports can use the e-gates, hadn't known that). If...

It took me 40 minutes to get through Heathrow a few weeks ago and some friends a similar time at a later date, notwithstanding newspaper reports of 6 hour delays. This was before the e-gates...

Don't sweat it. No-one knows which queue will be faster when you travel and the difference is unlikely to be excessive.
