Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

Although the rules do not indicate any waiver of other requirements, in practice it is most likely a fairly straightforward process - especially if the application is made not too long after the...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

To be accurate, it would be 2x2½ visas before your wife can get Indefinite Leave to Remain (aka permanent residency). Once ILR is obtained, then naturalization can be applied for - presuming no...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

As far as I can tell, the new rules are not relevant to your situation. Your wife has a visa that was granted under the old rules, so any further applications for either extending her stay or for...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

I don't think it is misleading, as over the next few years only those who hold a spouse visa under the old rules would be eligible for citizenship. The earliest anyone holding a spouse visa under...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

At the 5 year point, the visa holder will need to apply for indefinite leave first - citizenship is after that (and by then the government might have changed it so spouses have to hold indefinite...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

I think we've known that about formula and her posts here for a long time ;)

We're fortunate enough to have got my wife Indefinite Leave to Enter under the old rules (due to 4+ years living &...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

It's at least 6 months that the British citizen needs to be "economically active" in another EU country to use the Surinder Singh route.

If you're not a Daily Mail reader and offence has been taken from saying you are, then I unreservedly apologise to all Daily Mail readers.

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

I see the Daily Mail reader is back after a 2 week break - I guess ignoring all but the last couple of posts in that period is a way of avoiding previous questions and comments by different people.

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

It is 6 month to use the Surinder Singh route into the UK, which is what we're talking about. For only 6 months, if that is the intention, I would personally lean towards the home schooling option...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

The requirement is 6 months, not 12 months. Home schooling is an option, doesn't have to be a school.

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

None of these are on the radar for the Daily Mail to support these days, and indeed it probably would or does find ways to explain why having more doctors, or the importance of family life is bad for...

Re: British citizen living abroad? Non-EEA spouse? This may affect you!

But then formula also says this alot:

The attitude seems to be "if you want to bring your foreign spouse to the UK you can, as long...
