Right, and the problem is that, as in the US, monetary instrument is defined by giving a list of examples rather than saying much about the characteristics of what is and what is not a monetary...

In the US a credit card isn't a monetary instrument, neither to the extent it has a balance, nor to the extent it has available credit. Happy now? :)

No, because the $10,000 isn't monetary value that you can transfer to someone else .... unused credit exceeding $10,000 would be very similar to a monetary instrument, but I still don't believe that...
