I've never eaten shark, but skate isn't bad - just a neutral (marine) fishy flavour, though with a texture I have never seen in any other fish - it divides into long segments, almost strings, rather...

I hear it can taste of mud. Farmed it is just tasteless. I had it once (farmed, it had the texture of white fish, but zero taste) but wouldn't choose it again unless I was starving.

Round here at least the customary accompaniment to seafood is something called "cocktail sauce", which looks like ketchup, but is heavily laced with horseradish, thereby ensuring that the diner can...

That's hardly a recommendation for quality seafood or quality cooking. My experience of that sort of meal is that the fish is pretty tasteless and the sauce isn't much better, though it does mask...

To build on what Siouxie said, do you actually find the taste unpleasant, or is it just bland and unappealing? If you actually don't like the flavour then there probably isn't much hope for you, but...
