Re: Pet Peeves?

My guess would be that half the problem is the sort of people who would plan an alcohol-free wedding.

Re: Pet Peeves?

We bought several foil-lined, insulated heavy duty grocery bags. They are great for anything refrigerated or frozen, or fruit and vegetables, and easily strong enough for three gallons of...

Re: Pet Peeves?

I put the reluctance of a significant number of Americans to use self scan down to their bizarre preference to have some spotty school kid toss their groceries haphazardly into carrier bags, as doing...

Re: Pet Peeves?

That depends how you calculate it - it might be quicker for the customer, .... until you factor in having to queue at the check out. But as you said, the staffing cost is key, and one employee...

Re: Pet Peeves?

I pretty much always take a hand basket if one is available when shopping for groceries, as it limits what I can buy, somewhat. That said, I can get three gallons of milk in a basket, or a case of 12...

Re: Pet Peeves?

There always supposed to be someone overseeing the self scan, but at very quiet times of day, say early in the morning, the person at the customer service desk, or an assistant from the regular...

Re: Pet Peeves?

Most grocery stores as well as Lowe's and HD in my area now have self scan in most stores, but it is noteable that stores in "high loss" areas were either slow to add a self-scan option, or...

Re: Pet Peeves?

I don't think I have ever seen one in the US, and don't recall the last time I saw one in the UK either. I certainly don't remember seeing on my visits during the past 3-4 years.

Re: Pet Peeves?

So long as they don't cause an accident, why do you care?

Some Americans have a weird obsession with "following the rules", especially when it comes to driving. If I am turning right...

Re: Pet Peeves?

I wasn't given a bicycle until I left Sheffield, but Gloucester is about as flat as Sheffield is hilly. The problem I have is finding a bicycle large enough - I have the largest frame size and then...

I think they do it to encourage you to take the e-ticket. The concert I went to last night had an e-ticket, and the two concerts I have coming up both have-tickets too.

Re: Pet Peeves?

A business's income pays it's expenses; what's left over is profit.

When the expenses go up, a business will usually try to increase revenue if the increase in expenses can't be avoided,...
