Re: The truth about winter in Canada.

I'm alright, I can afford to live in the relatively nice bit but most others have to live in the horrible bits.

Re: The truth about winter in Canada.

Of course you're entitled to your opinion, none is debating that. But the weight of evidence of this thread shows how many and how much people despise winter in Canada. Its only right to help people...

Re: The truth about winter in Canada.

It'll be better soon enough, its nearly springtime. I think the way to survive the winters where you live is to build in a couple of warm weather breaks to give yourself something to look forward...

Re: The truth about winter in Canada.

That's about its for me also. I find the conversion of time the most difficult concept in Canada, it seems to stand still.

Re: The truth about winter in Canada.

If you look at the videos they're spaced out over three to four years. Plus, no one is "trying to portray" anything, we just want to warm people that the winters are much much harsher than in the UK...

Re: The truth about winter in Canada.

Fair enough, if you find yourself here but the point of the thread was to warn people from the UK who may be thinking they can just put on an extra pair of furry knickers and it'll be fine. It was't...

Re: The truth about winter in Canada.

I refer you to the first video, note the terms "millions of Canadians" "winter never seems to end" "snow piled up to the roof" plus she says "brace yourselves" a lot. That can't be good. :(

Re: The truth about winter in Canada.

Certainly I am a position to comment and to judge, I've visited and its horrible. Its bloody cold and its cold for a bloody long time in most parts of Canada. I'm not saying Vancouver is a picnic in...

Re: The truth about winter in Canada.

I don't have to live in the rubbish part. Which in my opinion is anything between east of Main St and the Atlantic ocean. :)

Re: The truth about winter in Canada.

A bit of drizzle and 8c is hardly the same as minus 40 and 10ft high snow drifts for 5 months.

Re: The truth about winter in Canada.

I'm impressed with the honesty of opinion on here of those who actually live in Canada. I really think people who are thinking about moving here need to realize how harsh and brutal the winters are...

Re: The truth about winter in Canada.

That's sort of the point of the thread. Information so prospective emigres can make an informed decision rather be lead by some romantic notion or the self-justifying ramblings of people who are...

Re: The truth about winter in Canada.

There's nothing wrong with you. You have that egotistical vision of embracing the harsh conditions because you can do it, coupled with a misunderstanding how the cold will really feel. Have a lovely...
