The Fx houses usually offer the best rates, depends how much you are exchanging as to how much time spent hunting around. Also the rate can change between phone calls. We mostly use Custom House.

Small amounts from a bank. Hardly worth sending to a broker, Tuesday morning, came back up a few cents, but still only $1.63 today from the bank. Lowest Fx rate I saw was $1.59 this year. Lowest...

Different FX houses give different rates, depending on the margin they want. Some include charges into the rate, others give a good rate and pass on the charges. Rates also vary with the amount,...

Twiddling my thumbs again in a hotel, looked a bit into the history of the GBP/CAD pair. In 1976 it dipped to 1.61 and by 1980 it hit 2.90. It has gone up an down like a yo yo this past 30 years, so...

If you don't have the cash, don't do an advance contract. Once the buy date comes up you are contractually obliged to complete the transaction. It can cost big time if you fail to complete.
