Re: Watt and Stewart wanting drivers

T4 in.

$60,410 that included time off back in UK for a holiday and I have now done my tax return and should be getting around $7,000 as a tax refund.
I'm happy with that for long haul daylight...

Re: Watt and Stewart wanting drivers

I meant you are comparing OTR with day work.

I enjoyed the W&S job and it suited me in my situation, but you're right, I probably wouldn't enjoy tanker work and am happy to stick with flat deck...

Re: Watt and Stewart wanting drivers

$19 was for winter... it is not the annual average, and it is not for people home every weekend!

Re: Watt and Stewart wanting drivers

There seems to be a few here comparing day work wages for people with PR with OTR wages for people on TWP's.

I would bet that MOST drivers on OTR TWP's do leave when they get PR (or maybe get a...

Re: Watt and Stewart wanting drivers

$19 an hour long haul in winter with daylight restrictions, the tax allowance for all the overnights also adds up to a tidy sum at refund time, but should it be added to the average hourly rate,...

Re: Watt and Stewart wanting drivers

What do you want FTTM? Do you want me to be dishonest?
Maybe you did have more beers than you thought, and didn't read this bit...

This was winter time, my average would have been much higher...

Re: Watt and Stewart wanting drivers

I haven't done my average figures for the full year, but these were from my first 93 days with them, which I thought I had posted previously to counter the $25 an hour which I stated...

93 day...

Re: Watt and Stewart wanting drivers

The rents are around $800-1000 in Claresholm, plenty of work for wives at around $10 an hour, although (as I have told many prospective drivers) it would still be tough for a family on OTR wages.
I...

Re: Watt and Stewart wanting drivers

I do agree with most of that, and the wife even said I painted too rosy a picture on the blog, but yes, for our situation it suited us and I made money (I will take the time to go through my slips...

Re: Watt and Stewart wanting drivers

The advert has to be placed for a few weeks to secure LMO's for TFW's if it can't be filled via the advert. Perhaps they don't want local applicants, even though they have quite a few good Canadian...

Re: Watt and Stewart wanting drivers

We could make that on many days, not just really good days, but, of course it's not EVERY day.

What have I said that isn't the truth?

It's obviously not $90,000 a year, the minimum wage for...

Re: Watt and Stewart wanting drivers

The two rates were legal loads 37c and oversize 42c plus 3c on all miles every three months, and if it's over 30,000 for the quarter (which it should be) then there is and extra 1c for all those...

Re: Watt and Stewart wanting drivers

Jeez FTTM, I'm on here spouting enough for you to know that I turned down a 2 yr LMO after a full year with them due to the birth of our first Grandchild as Alan Douglas says above.

I got decent...
