Yup totally....but then join the club. Been here myself for about 4 months and loving it. Renting a place in Seatoun which is right on the beach (the place not my house...I have to walk about 100...

Thorndon, where you work, is a nice (up hill) stroll from the bus station and train station. 30 minutes will get you to most suburbs in Wellington plus by train to the Hutt Valley and all the way out...
