Re: Potential move to JOBURG

Good decision. Glad you're thinking. We were there for 2 years (2005-2007) and I am just getting over the traumatic stress of getting robbed and living on high alert 100% of the time. We lived in...

Re: Is Johannesburg a Safe Place?

Re: Is Johannesburg a Safe Place?

Ooooh! Johannesburg's primary POLISH CUISINE site!

To answer your question, it depends on whether the pierogis are frozen or just from die koelkas..... (wait, is that the fridge or the freezer?)

Re: Moving to Durban

Exactly, Daxk.
Unless you're wandering around in a state of constant readiness, a gun wouldn't be much help. I can see myself.... shooting myself in the big toe in all the excitement, or scrabbling...

Re: Moving to Durban

Hmmm, that is very helpful information, in fact. I had just dreamed this idea up all on my lonesome, but wasn't very confident about the plan. Since leaving SA I've thought back on it, and mostly had...

Re: Moving to Durban

You know, I have to ask about this comment!

I did this too, while living in SA. But did it make any sense, really? Somehow, I always had the feeling that I was just fooling myself. If you're about...

Re: Samiya -- Moving to South Africa

Hi there Doll!

Glad you enjoyed my writing. It was pretty therapeutic at the time when I was just dealing with general "expat" issues. After the robbery it was essential.

It's amazing. Two and...

Re: Samiya -- Moving to South Africa

Thanks! I must say, I love being settled again in Europe. One of the saddest things about SA is that South Africans have become inured to the violence, in large part. A shrug of the shoulders, a...

Re: Permanent Residence Stamp in British passport

My daughter had this issue with her visa. She was advised to travel with both passports, old and new. She never had any problems going in and out of SA.

Samiya -- Moving to South Africa

Hope you will check in again, Samiya, with questions about moving to RSA. I'm happy to answer questions, from my own biased point of view, of course!;) But I would strongly advise that you really...

Re: Introduce yourself before posting

Hi. I'm an American. Our family was in the UK from 2002-2005 and we moved to Johannesburg in 2005. I lasted less than a year and returned to the UK in 2006 along with our youngest daughter. My...
