To be honest I didn't know what they wanted for that either so pretty much ignored it - and I got my visa!

Ok thanks everyone. I'll just put down 'permanent resident' and explain at interview if need be - if I get any interviews that is! - I think I will put what Steve suggested on my CV too as I am not...

Thanks for the info, but I have found on most forms the options are citizen, permanent resident or on a work permit - so I assumed I would be a permanent resident, as I'm definitly not on a work...

I sent my passport on Monday (with next day delivery) and got it back yesterday (Thursday) so you shouldn't be waiting long!

I haven't sent off my application for the Aus police check yet (waiting to get an Aus dollars cheque from the bank) but have already filled out the form - I've put in all the addresses where I stayed...

Oh another question - you said you paid by cheque? Did you do it through an Australian bank account or were you able to write a cheque with a British account?

Yeah I've looked through the booklet but I'm not sure what evidence I can give, in that I don't actually understand for some parts what they could want even if they had the 'perfect' couple applying....

We've never lived on our own either - with my partner's sister for the first year, with his family in S America for three months, then in a shared flat for this last year. Don't have joint accounts...
