Re: Motorist killed after jumping red signal in Dubai..

According to the article it happened at 2.30am. I didn't think there was too much traffic around at that time?

You sure he didn't crawl accross the line and was shot by a police officer? ;)

Re: I TOLD YOU!

Mantronic,

I think that the "advice" you have given to date has been taken on board by those who accept your dire outlook on the middle east.

As for the rest of us, we have made the decision to...

Re: RIYADH - WHAT IS IT LIKE OUT THERE?

Actually the cops weren't involved at all. As I was looking through the glovebox for the Avis rental papers, the guys just jumped in the car and drove away. When I went to Avis they said, "it will...

Re: RIYADH - WHAT IS IT LIKE OUT THERE?

Well where to start....

Seder is not bad for the single folk, they have a great "social gathering" on Wednesday nights.

I have been here in Riyadh for 6 months now. I also was in the UK before...

Re: New career direction...

I think that there is an apprentice dictator course. It's the same as the Warlord course with some extra course work. You'll have to do the elective subjects of Building Fear in a Third World...

Re: New career direction...

I'm sure that if you pop into your local community college, they'd have a course. And if you're really sneaky the government can pay for it too.

Have a look in the Criminal Syllabus:

Warlord...

Re: Cost of living in Saudi Arabia

Yeah the one near Sahara Mall. The one that has no space left on it. That's the reason I live in Ranco off Khurais Rd. No Spanish feel about that compound. ;)

Re: SEX ON THE BEACH

At the end of the day, if you live in someone elses country you abide by the rules no matter how draconian they may be. If you are caught breaking the rules then don't be surprised if you are...

Re: Cost of living in Saudi Arabia

It's hard to tell if those photos came from Arabian in Jeddah. Looks identical to the Arabian compound in Riyadh. The security gate was the only difference.

Any other suggestions? Maybe buy the flight for the accommodation then fly from Saudi instead.

Re: Family Holiday in Dubai

Atlantis would be great. My daughter would stand at the fish tank all day and be fully occupied.

I don't see the problem. ;)

Thanks for the suggestions as well Blue Cat. I'll check them now....

Re: Car Buying Time

The Arbath is as good as it gets. I think it's a 1.4lt turbo. You could always do an engine transplant from the Dodge Charger. Fiat 500 with a 6.1lt engine could be fun. HA HA!!

Hi all,

It's my wife's birthday in April 09 and I thought it might be time to plan a trip to Dubai. My question is which are the best hotels if you are bringing your 18 month old daughter along...

Re: Car Buying Time

The Lumina is fine for headroom. It's the Saudi fascination with "fully optioned" cars. They all have a sunroof which means less headroom.

I do like the Fiat 500 option but give me the Arbath...

Re: Car Buying Time

I was looking at that but two problems:

1. The SR/T isn't available anymore
2. Being 6'5" and sunroofs don't mix

Anything else?

Re: Car Buying Time

I'm thinking either Lumina SS or CSV CR8. But then I have a family and can't quite give up the boy racer thing.

Anyone know if the M3 4 door is coming?
