Re: So, wehat are your biggest regrets/disappointments?

I forgot to add that you have to pay 14 monthly salaries a year. Payroll taxes are high although I don't know exact figures.

But the biggest problem here that would immediately deter me from...

Re: No Wonder this country is in a mess, please comment

I think there's a serious problem with it. Countries with poor work ethics / education like Portugal can't compete in the Euro straightjacket. They are doomed to permanent stagnation at best and...

You mean he is going to work towards keeping the Euro straightjacket knowing full well that it's not going to work? It just doesn't sound like something an honest person would do.

BTW the reason...

Re: EUR exit, we all own Escudos !?

Exactly.

Exactly. It's unlikely to be as long as 5 years though. Greece should drop out of the Euro much sooner and that will trigger others to do the same. When Argentina defaulted, the GDP...

Re: No Wonder this country is in a mess, please comment

I trust him in the sense that he genuinely wants to change the country for the better and the policies he would like to implement are far better than those of Socrates. But that's where it ends.

Thanks for clarifying that.

On this note, I'm in a similar position and until recently I thought that I'm safe. I'm not so sure now. Here's why:

What if the position has been shown to be wrong and not work for you in practice? Are you still going to "be damn consistent" and stick to it? Just curious.

Portugal is not a business-friendly environment. But it's by no means the only one. In fact, countries with business-friendly environment are few and far between.

One country I happened to live...

I take a couple of ibuprofen tablets the moment there's any hint of trouble in any of the usual joints. If you wait until you are sure an attack is coming, it's usually already too late.

I...

This morning this same idea is not...

Re: Red tape nightmare - Please help!

That's alright.

Your earlier post indicated that with hindsight, you'd rather go under the radar from the start. Have you changed your mind since that post?

Re: Red tape nightmare - Please help!

That's what I'd do now if I were you. I think you are taking...

Re: EUR exit, we all own Escudos !?

I'd say that there will be an initial period of hyper-inflation immediately following re-introduction of the escudo. House prices in escudos will inflate along with other prices during this period. ...

Re: Bull Fighting Subsidies
