thanks all for the info... I'm a bit worried now about us processing the marriage before she comes here now... even though it's not just to try and look good for the visa, but more for her Japanese...

we would like PR straight off, how would that work exactly? As we still have to apply for the temp visa? So as soon as we get the temp visa would we apply for the waiver and then get the PR?

There is my sister and her partner. It would just be a little bit of a struggle locking away a deposit if it were needed seeing as we have a baby on the way.
