You are only entitled to healthcare in Portugal if you are in the system or of retirement age.

This has been the case for some time.

I did not say you did not need proof of income to buy a house.

To open accounts with some banks you need to supply proof of income.

I did not have to supply proof of income when I got my 10 year residency last year. I think it depends if you are an EU citizen or not.

Also, I believe that mortgages are as rare as hen´s teeth...

AFPOP are just clarifying this with IMTT because of the problems people have being experiencing.

Current advices is to register your licence with IMTT.

Once you are living here I would highly recommend it as if you get caught with out your piece of paper you will get a minimum fine.
