I doubt that even half of the spouses on L2 work.
There are probably companies in the US whose workforce is virtually 100% ...

It is def worth getting your Masters first.

There are H-1B visas set aside for holders of Masters degrees-20,000 in addition to 40,000 annually.
PLUS- a Masters degree puts you into the E-B2...
