From memory, he was claiming SS prior to our leaving the US and continued to receive it in the UK - he retired because he was a lazy buggar and thought hed worked long enough. He was up to debt when...

Sorry I got that wrong - he retired in 2009 - the year before we moved back to the UK - and from what I have found here it looks like he never filed after we left the US - so that now the two of us!!...

I never filed US returns - I'm not resident and would have lost my green card when I left - I didn't know I had to? Although I'm sure he would have done ... he was very secretive about everything.

Well I've found a job ... less than 10 minutes from where I live. It's not perfect but it's something. It's in a nursing home (carer). I mentioned to them that many years ago I'd worked as a cook...

Thank you so much for your comments!! All the agency told me was I'd be arranging international and national travel, the usual secretarial duties, arranging presentations, liaising with students etc...
