Re: Ike stories in here!

We lost power on Sunday at around midday and didn't get it back until Thursday evening. We were the last of our family and friends in Dayton and Cincy to get it back. We lost a lot of food from the...

Re: BritishGuy36’s moving to America thread

Huh I didn't know that you don't need an SSN to take the driving test in Ohio. I read the BMV website and was under the impression you did. They certainly asked for it when I took my Ohio test.

At...

Re: BritishGuy36’s moving to America thread

1) I had my medical almost a year ago and it was 195GBP. That included one shot - I was given the option of having my own doctor do it on the NHS but I wanted to get it over with. Passport was...

Re: BritishGuy36’s moving to America thread

That's weird Tamms because I've always had cheaper flights going to Dayton rather than Cincy, as has my mother. We've flown that route about 5 times now. Maybe it depends on the time of year or...

Re: BritishGuy36’s moving to America thread

OP, don't know where in Souther OH you're moving to but if you want a cheaper flight check out the prices flying into Dayton. It's way cheaper than CVG. I used to fly into CVG all the time when I was...

Re: neighbours?

We've been living in our house for almost 2 months now. We're surrounded by apartments (not high rent ones!) and those neighbours have never said a word to us. We have a house next to us and once...

Re: What's attractive about OH / KY?

 that is beyond ridiculous.

Ohio is fine. Not the most exciting place but it's pretty in places and there's plenty to do outside.... as long as it's not 100% humidity or snowing.

We...

Re: Salt Lake City, Utah?

Hubby was stationed at Hill AFB near Ogden for a year before we were married but I visited him there twice for a total of 6 weeks. Salt Lake City is ok.... it's clean at least but that temple is...

Re: AOS approved :D

I understand that it must be annoying though. I've heard of a lot of people who filed around the same time as me getting through with no interview. In fact, some people who filed AFTER me were...

Re: AOS approved :D

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to annoy anyone.... I was completely expecting to have an interview and in fact we have already collected everything we'd need for when it was scheduled. I agree that it's...

Yeah I never got anything when my advance parole was approved, it was a huge surprise when I found it in my mailbox! I actually got the same email 3 times for AOS approval, and also for EAD.... and I...

Re: AOS approved :D

Thank you :)

I'm signed up to receive email updates from USCIS, so I was informed of the approval by email. I'm waiting for the 'Welcome to America' letter and green card by snail mail now :)

We filed at the beginning of November, had biometrics at the end of November, our case was transferred to California Service Center on boxing day, and we were approved without interview on...

Re: Anybody in Cincinnati or North Kentucky??

I'm in Miamisburg, south of Dayton, so about 30 miles from Cincinnati.

I have to say I'm surprised too at the number of us in the Cincy-ish area.

Ooh and Jungle Jims is the best place ever :D

Re: Whch State ? Indiana /Illinois/Ohio or Michigan

Ummm... it's not a cult.

But I do sympathise.... we have neighbours downstairs who smoke (we're in an apartment) and our laundry room smells like smoke constantly.

But like people have said,...

Re: Whch State ? Indiana /Illinois/Ohio or Michigan

I've also heard Cincinnati described as the Armpit of Ohio.

The thing with the main cities in Ohio (Cincy, Cleveland, Columbus) is that they are not that big..... and there's not much going on...

Re: should my fiance marry me on a tourist visa?

Couldn't edit sorry!

Re: should my fiance marry me on a tourist visa?

It IS legal to enter the US with intent to marry, as long as you do NOT intend to stay.

Proof if you want: my father and stepmother came to Texas in May 2005 (she is from Texas) WITH intent to...
