Is Manila really that good? For a new retired brit coming to live in the Philippines is it worth staying there for a few months prior to going for a quiet life in say, Luzon?

For someone like me who prefers the mountains to the coast, your mention of Baguio sounds tempting. Any other expats up there? And hopefully less mossies?
