We are hoping to move to chch this year and were hoping to get some info on electrical training/tests e.t.c. I've got an offer of provisional license from EWRB but was wondering how long...

Can't believe EWRB registration has gone up from NZ$70 to $350 in just 6 months!! Oh well, better not leave it any longer....sending documents in to EWRB this weekend. House is very nearly sold.......

Thanks for your help everyone :) It's really reassuring knowing there's others that have been through the emigration process and can share advice.... There's so much to do - it's a bit daunting tbh...

I remember reading somewhere it needs to be very detailed..... are you a sparky out there and gone through the EWRB process? I'm just worried that they come back to us saying there's not enough...

Thanks for the advice..... we pretty much have our hearts set on emigrating to nz after a lot of research and decision making...... and have come to the conclusion that it may work/may not work for...

Hi, it's Steve's OH Becky here! My son is in a similar situation - he is 6 and has a ? over whether to be assessed yet..... the SENCO lady said they won't assess him until they have tried other...

....Still unsure if we need to get electrical qualifications assessed by nzqa AND ewrb.... seems strange to have to do it twice.... if anyone has been through the process and knows what's required...

Hi, Sorry I've just realised that EWRB will do assessment of qualifications so no need to contact NZQA is there? and yes we will get onto them first before going any further as it can take a while...

Thanks, yes when reading it again sounds like it's just for the main applicant...... will check to make sure though. Think it would be wise to go separately anyway to get job and accommodation sorted...

Thanks, yeh, lots to think about and get sorted..... Do you know if the work search visa would be for the whole family and would we need to prove we have enough funds to support ourselves for 9 mths?...

Whatever we do will not be without it's risks...... but the way we see it is it will an adventure full of new experiences and challenges.....even if it doesn't work out! :)

It's a minefield this immigration lark isn't it!!? I thought I read somewhere that if your profession is on the Long term shortage list you may not need to be issued with a job search visa.........

We feel very lucky that we have this opportunity to "give it a go" although we still have a few concerns.... i.e. will we be able to survive on our income considering the cost...
