Re: Shipping Pets

There are a lot of threads in the Australia forums about shipping pets which should give you some general info, and names of companies such as Jetpets or Petair, who would be able to answer your...

Re: Wife changed her mind

Holidaying in Aus is so very different from day to day life, plus Australia has changed a lot, not least regarding rising costs, since 2012.

A few things to ponder:
You want to give you son a...

Re: Psychology Degree

Barton-on-Sea is a lovely spot, isn't it. I adore spending time watching the sea here, seeing how the colours and the waves change constantly, and watching sunsets is always a joy. I agree it seems...

Re: feeling the stress getting ready to move back to the UK ( Scotland)

Another alternative then would be to simply not register with a GP until you have a longer term address. Especially as you may find a GP more conveniently located once you have a long term address....

Re: feeling the stress getting ready to move back to the UK ( Scotland)

How would the doctor know it was an Airbnb unless you tell them? Just give them the address of the place, they wouldn't know whether its your own place or a short term let.

Re: Psychology Degree

Had to chime in to that one, sitting on my beautifully chilly Brighton beach..........one year since I left that hideous humidity, and I know I feel much saner :D :D

Re: Household bills.

I can't give you the actual costs for oil fired, but my sister has it at her house in Wales, and the cost of filling the tank is apparently "crippling". I don't think its very common unless you are...

Re: feeling the stress getting ready to move back to the UK ( Scotland)

Thats exactly how I did it, a huge spreadsheet, with different colours, and moving things to a second sheet as they were done. Second spreadsheet to keep track of the packing & shipping for the TOR....

Re: Shrimps On The Barbie

Not necessarily. Many people in real life know me as Pollyana, and I fail to see how a witch having an avatar of a witch can be accused of being stale

Re: Decision time

There are various options for sponsoring parents, its not just one straight-forward visa. I think the Contributory Parent Visa does currently require around that figure, in addition to the...

Re: Cost of Living

I used to have a similar conversation with people (including my ex) when I lived in Australia. I've always believed in buying in bulk if it makes things cheaper - if its stuff you will use anyway...

Re: London -> Central Coast NSW

Yes, your visa grant notice will have a "must enter By XXX" date on it, usually within 12 months. You just need to visit Australia before that date to validate it.

Re: London -> Central Coast NSW

Welcome to BE :)
Be prepared for it to come through quicker than expected - some #)(/100s are being granted very quickly these days for applicants from the UK.
Also you should get a 100 straight...

Re: Shipping company quote confusion - help!

My TOR (last year) was a list very like that - 300 books, 40 soft toys, 100 cutlery items, 20 cushions etc. and was approved in about 3 days. As long as its approved and you can provide the number to...

Re: Options for my 83 year old father !!

I would seriously suggest a consultation with a MARA registered agent. There are a lot of permutations (which I won't go into as I am far from expert on parent visas of any kind and don't want to...

Re: Partner /spouse visa 801:onshore

You can apply whenever you like; sooner is probably better than later as you don't want to leave it till the last minute, find you are missing a vital bit of paperwork, and then be unable to lodge it...

Re: Validity to lodge the visa application after medical and PCC.

If the application was withdrawn, then its not lodged, its withdrawn. It no longer exists.

If you have an agent, then they should be providing the answers as they know what they did.

Re: Moving from Dubai

Re: Validity to lodge the visa application after medical and PCC.

I believe when the invitation is issued it has an expiry date, so you should first check whether the invite is still valid. Even if it is, then a pcc and medical from 2019 will not be, as they are...

I don't recall seeing posts on here from anyone in this kind of role for several years now, I'm afraid.

Re: Votes for life for all expats

I agree that the actual vote doesn't really help any party, however my take on it has always been that being on the electoral roll itself is the valuable thing. When I cam home last year it was...
