Re: EB5 for ex-residents (of their birth country)

That's what I discovered today, in talking with another member of the board. I had failed to pick up on that point in discussing immigration with an attorney... so I guess obtaining that EB-5 will...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

Huh?

This is a joke, and a total waste of time.

Ray, you're an arrogant arsehole. When someone looks like you, I guess they've gotta get their kicks somewhere.

Right, I'm really off this...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

Neither did I. I was asking for experiences from people who had done one or the other.

Isn't that what a community forum for British Expats is for?

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

Right, for anyone else reading, see yorkie's post for a prime example of intelligent debate.

THAT adds to the conversation. And he did that in 2 posts without lashing out a single insult.

Thank...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

Have you actually read any of the posts that have been thrown my way?

Explain to me why these people are given free reign to insult, hurl abuse, call me childish, immature and accuse me of living...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

I signed up to these boards in Sept 2007, and I've actively read many posts since. In all, I've been researching my options for a good 3 years.

I watched the same thing happen to a 37 year old...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

I still fail to see where this idea of "dreaming" fits in.

I started this thread - and still maintain it - with a very simple question. Faced with the finances to move to the US or travel, which...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

Nothing.

What's wrong with 26 year old business owners who can afford an EB5 visa?

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

Errm... right.

Except, the EB-5 visa actually *costs* that much and any talk about worldwide gallivanting intrinsically turns to money.

Case in point...

If you actually look at my original...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

Thanks for your opinion. You're right, of course - which only further justifies that I'm in the wrong place to be asking these questions.

If I disclosed my earnings, or my travel schedules of...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

I never said a bad word against you. Your advice was actually very helpful. Please don't group yourself with the arrogant swines that seem to crawl this board... that would be entirely misdirected!

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

When did I say it's not okay to ask questions?

Name calling + abuse + citing my situation as "immature" (despite having made enough money to even be CONSIDERING this in the first place) does not =...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

I asked a simple question, and got a flurry of spiteful remarks in response.

Stereotypical slagging off of a country? No, just one person's motivation for moving. Now, stereotypical slagging off...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

It must hurt to know that someone younger than you is in a position to consider a $500K-$1M visa category, and that they made the money themselves.

Puts your own life into perspective, does it? I...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

The EB5 visa is what I'm looking at.

I do not qualify for any other at the present time. I did look into L1, but that has been heavily clamped in recent times.

This also answers the question...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

Thank you, I'll check it out.

Perhaps I should have provided a little more info (in addition to the motivation of the move)... but then, should I really have to?

It's amazing to me how many...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

Yes - it's a simple thing, you can do it online in about 3 minutes. Costs about £12, or it was the last time I visited.

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

Tracy's correct - I'm looking at the EB5 option. There's a few month wait for filing and even then, the visa is conditional for a couple of years. Realistically, I'd be over by Autumn/Fall with the...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

My bad. In my head, I was merely stating the motivations for my move. Having trawled through many forums of varying topics over the years, I've always found a motivator behind a question helps put it...

Re: Live in the US, or become a PT?

Brilliant advice, Tracy. Many thanks!

I wasn't aware of the residency clause and that could certainly have presented a stumbling block for me.

That, in itself, could reshape my approach.
