Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

I sent a case specific email last week and had a reply on Friday. It was exactly what I expected:

"The letter acknowledging receipt of the application for permanent residence explained that the...

Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

I sent a case specific enquiry to London today.

I'm sure I won't get a response and if I do it will be the standard reply, but if they expect to process applications within 42-48 months and my...

Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

Fantastic news, congratulations! It's a proper happy new year!

Like many others, we're still waiting for a doc request. My husband's two best friends moved to Aus in the last 18 months;...

Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

On Monday it'll be three years to the day that we received our AOR. Have heard nothing since...:frown:

Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

We're AOR Nov 07 and haven't had anything yet; no docs request, nada!

However we're in Vancouver on holiday at the moment, (and doing some networking, obviously ;)) so it would be nice if there...

Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

I went to Trafalgar Square yesterday for the Canada Day celebrations and took the opportunity to harrass the nice young man from Canada House :D

We had a chat, but he didn't tell me anything I...

Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

The *only* good thing about waiting this long is that at least we stand a chance of getting PR. Under the new system neither me nor my husband are eligible.

Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

No worries jugapper - I just wished the article had been more recent; it might have given us real hope!

Have a couple of friends staying with us at the moment who are over from Aus - He married an...

Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

The article's dated 21st Jun 2008 - Given that everything seems to have ground to halt for us 2007'ers, I think that probably answers the question.

(Sorry, got a bit of a grump on about this whole...

Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

Still nothing for us, either. I had heady dreams of having had our 90 day letter and sent off all the info by now...

Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

sorry to hear about your father Coffeepot.

Withdrawing and a refund should at least be an option again - if we'd known how slow things were going to get when they sent out those letters offering...

Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

Wow, that report makes depressing reading. Things I spotted include:

"At 31 December 2008, more than 620,000 people in this category were waiting and the average processing time was 63 months."

Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

I'd originally estimated we'd hear Jan/Feb this year based on the speed things WERE going, but now; who knows!

There is still a possibility we could go based on my OH's job, so fingers crossed...

Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

Just popping in to say we haven't had a docs request yet (we're AOR Nov 07) though looking at Trackitt I'm not expecting one for a while!

Re: 2007 queue - where are we up to?

Nope - It was two years yesterday that ours went in the post! Not worried yet, but keeping a keener eye on the post from now on. :)

Re: Old Skilled Worker applicants left on the scrap heap?

We're AOR November 07 and I wasn't expecting to hear anything until next month at the earliest, though going by the current slowdown it sounds like that might now be February at the earliest!

Re: Hypothetical question (at least, at the moment!)

Thanks Sharkus, that's useful stuff.

Chances are that by the time the company comes to a decision and makes any offers, we'd only be a few months away from PR anyway (hopefully), so they may well...

Hypothetical question (at least, at the moment!)

First a bit of background:

My husband and I applied for Permanent Residency in November 2007 using the simplified application process with myself as the principle applicant. All well and good;...

Re: Did anyone receive their AOR in Nov 2007?

No you're right; best to carry on and when the brown envelope arrives it'll be a pleasant surprise, or a shock if it's earlier than expected. I mentally prepared myself for a much longer wait!

Re: Did anyone receive their AOR in Nov 2007?

Aha, fellow applicant from Essex! :)

Yup, we got our AOR on 29th Nov 2007.

I'm trying not to think about when we'll hear. It could be as soon as this summer, or, if the AOR is to be believed,...

Re: Got a 'continued interest' letter today...

One of these showed up on my doormat this morning. Read it, filed it, will now forget about it. I haven't changed my mind and I don't intend to!

Re: Any other Skilled Workers out there?

As I understand it (and I may be wrong - there are so many rules and guidelines and I've got my undercrackers in a twist so many times!) you have to have worked for a company for at least a year...

Re: Any other Skilled Workers out there?

Myself and my husband are in a similar situation, though at the moment we're happy to hang tight - for reasons that I'll explain shortly!

I'm the principal applicant (applied Nov 07) and two of...
