Re: Citizenship Residency Calculator woes

If you had been out of the country roughly 11 days less than you actully have, then you would have been able to apply late November this year. (Or possibly earlier, if you have been in Australia more...

Re: confusing information on Australian citizenship

Apart from the last condition, which in itself overrides anything else, it is all (rather than any) of the conditions listed that has to be met in order for you to be required to submit a Police...

Re: PHD VISA advise

Isn't or shouldn't the research done as RA somehow be linked to the student's own research? At least enough to contribute to the student's PhD progress and completion, and enough to not be considered...

Re: PHD VISA advise

I might be missing something, but as I said earlier the research should not be a problem. Research is an integral part of completing a PhD, and something that can hardly be considered work in the...

Re: PHD VISA advise

I am not updated in this area, but the visa suggested by vsuccess do seem to be a good fit.

Research time during weeks should not be a problem, but if the university ask your friend to spend...

Re: age clarification but may be its a stupid question ???

Quoted from http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/175/eligibility-age.htm:

"Points awarded
Your eligibility for points is determined by your age on the day of making your...

Re: citezenship (when to apply)

Dear Kim,

As both Louie and I have posted, we get the correct application date (6 Oct 2010) when entering your details into DIAC's calculator. If you get another result, there might be a...

Re: PR TO CITIZENSHIP(WHEN TO APPLY)

DIAC's residence calculator that Moneypenny linked to is a good place to start, as is www.citizenship.gov.au for all the relevant rules.

Based on the current legislation, the calculator takes into...

Re: citezenship (when to apply)

You enter all your dates.

As you became PR on 6 Oct 2009, you fulfil the residence requirement on 6 Oct 2010 the earliest. This date applies as long as you have not been away from Australia...

Re: Residence requirement for application to Australian Citizenship

Yes, it could and it will, as long you fulfil the remaining requirements as well. Good luck with your future application!

Re: Citizenship: residency requirement

First of all, you should be extremely cautious not to be away from Australia for more than 12 months in total during the four years before the day you make your citizenship application. If you are...

Please note that DIAC recently changed the application process for Citizenship. Completing the citizenship test is no longer supposed to be done before applying. See...

Re: Fee Refunded --- Thanks to George Lombard

Thanking Allah is as appropriate as thanking God or anyone else believed to be involved in the matter. Surely this is a personal choice as to whom one wishes to thank.

Re: Child who born in Aus gets Citizenship?

I agree that this question is not very clearly addressed on the citizenship site, but everything suggests the answer to be "no" - young children are not required to satisfy the ordinary residence...

Re: Adding depedent after grant of Visa

That might be a good idea for reasons of simplicity and cost. If I understand it correctly, the alternative is a separate Child (permanent) subclass 101 visa that costs AUD 1705. Good luck with baby...

Re: Please explain why your spouse/de facto partner is not migrating with you

Exactly, and wouldn't it be so much better to know about the visa outcome for the whole family as quickly as possible, rather than risking some family members being rejected a number of years down...

Re: Please explain why your spouse/de facto partner is not migrating with you

I fully agree with the previous recommendations to include your family in your initial visa application. As pointed out, there are several advantages in having them included, and no disadvantages...

Re: 'Permanent' clause missing from reference letter ? will it create problem ?

Given that the references are otherwise ok, and that they were tough to get by as you mention, I would personally use them as they are. ACS/DIAC ought to contact you If any questions arise. Actually,...

Re: Returning Resident Visa - Substantial Ties

Sorry, but I am quite sure that if someone is required to "hold a permanent visa" it means that they need to hold one that is valid, i.e. one that is in effect at that specific time.

One can...

I believe one of the two is enough.

Actually, I do not believe (3) (a) is applicable in your case. Because the permanent visa has indeed expired, they can't be said to hold a (valid)...
