Re: So....how would this work?

OK, fair enough and thanks. Until we've got H a job offer it's a no-go anyway...I guess I'm just throwing ideas around to get a better sense of 'what happens next'

When we're a bit further forward...

Re: So....how would this work?

Andrew, sorry, don't mean to sound rude. I wasn't expecting an appraisal of our chances of getting PR based on the evidence I gave you, I just didn't know the timings for applying for PR, or how to...

Re: So....how would this work?

I'm sorry, but I cannot say "go for it and don't worry" and/or "be careful and watch for this or that" - but I can say that your approach to the matter scares me a lot as you simply believe in your...

Re: So....how would this work?

Well, put it like this, if he doesn't get the transfer - we won't be coming. So the other issues (my experience, his points, my education) are academic.

This is what we're relying on (as well as...

Re: Jobby type question

There are large swaths of Calgary's economy that depend on raping and pillaging. In those sectors, you would not want to be perceived as someone with "bureaucratic" inclinations, and you would want...

Re: So....how would this work?

...and I guess my next question is, if these things don't affect an internal PR application, what do I need to be aware of, and what would?

Re: So....how would this work?

How come?

I've explained:

We're planning to come on inter-company transfer (his)
His job is exempt from a LMO because he's a manager and he's got specific specialist knowledge in his area of...

Re: Early Days...but...

Yay! I love snow. I'm not put off Calgary by snow reports, I MUCH prefer snow and COLD to a mild winter with p1$$ing rain non stop, fog and 70mph winds.

When I was in Banff, we arrived when it was...

Re: Jobby type question

Oh well. It's worth a try eh? Admittedly all my recent reports are stored on my PC and ut would be dead easy to manipulate them - my journalistic background would enable me to create a...

Jobby type question

I'm 'lucky' enough to work for the civil service. Anyone who has had that dubious honour will know that every year we go through a laborious reporting cycle where we get assessed on our abilities and...

Re: Early Days...but...

Oh....I do hope so. I'm already clicking on webcams here there and everywhere to see 'what Calgary looks like today'

I no longer care enough about my job to be upset about the shoddy way they are...

Re: So....how would this work?

OK.

My plan is that when we come over, H will work for his current company and I'll just take what I can get. I may even do some voluntary work to start with as we're intending to come over with...

Re: So....how would this work?

Thanks for that...so, when he gets his transfer agreed, HR will ask him to sort the forms out and I just apply for an open WP, that's the essence of it?

Great, can manage that.

What are the...

So....how would this work?

If my H gets our wish and his company relocate him to Calgary, what then?

I presume he will have to apply for a WP, or his employer on his behalf? He should qualify without HRDSC approval as he is...

Re: I so want to be in Calgary

Thanks! Yeah, hubby has a car, but I want to be able to get over there on my own if I need to. We'll certainly be going up into the park as well. We loved it there last time, even though it was...

Re: I so want to be in Calgary

That's worth knowing. It's bits of info like that which are really helping me build a picture of 'life in Calgary' to be honest (and I like it...)

I was well chuffed last night when I found out...

Re: I so want to be in Calgary

Maybe when I write my blog 'English girl moves to Calgary' this year, and it gets spotted by a publisher who offers me a publishing deal, we can afford an apartment in Eau Claire or Kensington...and...
