Re: Offensive?!?!

One wonders how this mother can even function at all in this reveal-everything world. Her only hope is that one of the big pharmaceutical companies will invent a medication to stifle her daughter's...

Re: Hypochondriacs Dream?

My mother was a member of Kaiser and they seemed to cater completely to her hypochondria. She went to at least 2-3 doctors every week, always convinced she had a serious ailment. When one doctor told...

Re: Calling all English teachers, or them that speak proper ya'll

Let me know if I can help. I'm American, aware of vernacular, have an M.A. degree in English Lit. and teach high school English.:)

Re: What is it about the yanks and these damn school movies?!

Great list of great films! I have shown a number of them in my classrooms, especially Rebel Without a Cause--the kids relate to it even though it was filmed back in the 50s.

Re: What is it about the yanks and these damn school movies?!

Thought I'd comment here since I am a Yank--and a teacher (in a detention school no less). The reason Americans love these movies is that the school systems in the US have been in the toilet for...

Re: Children's names

I work in a detention facility for teens, used to work downtown (LA) in Juvenile Hall and have a degree in Admin. of Criminal Justice. I have read studies about children's names and it is known that...

Re: Children's names

Back in the 60s, I knew a lady who named her daughter "Goitella." She said it was some kind of middle European name. Also, I had a friend who named her daughter Donabel. Fortunately, she gave the...

Re: Stopped for shoplifting (stealing, not trying to lift the shop up ;))

What an awful story! I think you need to know that the employees were formally reprimanded and you need a written apology from at least the manager. So much for "Customer Service."

Re: Who's Working over X-mas?

I'm a TEACHER and I am working over Christmas (with the exception of Christmas Day)! Grrrr....This is because I am a State of California teacher, that is, I work for the State, not the usual school...

Re: Keeping up the stereotype

In cases like this, where a dentist or doctor I don't know well advises extreme measures, I always go for a 2nd and even a 3rd opinion. I had the problem of grinding my teeth at night. My dentist...

Re: Chalfont to Calfornia

I was born, raised and now live in Hollywood, CA. I have also lived in Oregon. Orange County can be OK, depends on where you live. Any specific location in mind, yet? How about Laguna? Or Irvine?...

Re: Brits and religion

I suspect that, at the present time, Bible thumping and intense Protestant religiosity has reached a new level of intensity in the USA. I was not raised with any religion and in my adult...

Re: U.S Television Adverts

If the drug companies want to sell a pill they've developed, they just invent a new disease that requires it. As for me, I only watch TV programs taped on my VCR so I can fast forward commercials.

Re: cheap usa flights websites please?

Re: Idea's of what to do for 2 and a half days in LA?

Some further ideas about LA (born & raised here, live in H'wood):

YES, you do need a car! Do not even consider using public transportation. Santa Monica is a good place to stay. Downtown LA can be...

Re: Idea's of what to do for 2 and a half days in LA?

You can't take any tour that I know about of Compton and Watts and should not do so unless you look like a Black American and even then it's dangerous. However, the famous Watts Towers are, in my...

Re: Plane Spotting

Thanks--but I have, of course, been a C2C listener since Art Bell first started the program back in the early 90s. I've been a UFO/military plane buff for about 40 years or so. I love to watch my tax...

Re: Plane Spotting

For the best plane watching in the western part of the US, I'd recommend a trip out to where Area 51 "isn't," about 2-3 hours drive from Las Vegas, near Rachel, Nevada. If you are lucky, you can get...
