Re: Renting (Chicago) with no credit or SSN?

If our passports hadn't been with the embassy and someone had felt like paying for flights then we'd have done the same.

My husband's employers are not really helping us out with the co-signing...

Re: Renting (Chicago) with no credit or SSN?

Schaumburg is too far. We're in Lincolnshire.

Apparently we're the only people to ever relocate to this country without being given a free apartment from our employers. They're paying for our...

Re: Renting (Chicago) with no credit or SSN?

The problem was the only corporate apartment we could afford that would take us is too far from the train my husband needs to take to get to work, as he can't drive and can't learn without the ssn....

Re: Illinois Drivers License and test

Normally I take about an hour just to get used to driving in a straight line so it's going to be interesting!

Re: Renting (Chicago) with no credit or SSN?

Thanks for the responses everyone. So far we didn't manage to find a private landlord who was willing to rent without a credit check and ssn, even on Craigslist. Plus as we can't drive we can only...

Re: Illinois Drivers License and test

For those of you that took your test without having driven in the UK first, was it difficult to find an instructor and did it cost you a lot? I've tried contacting three Chicago suburb firms so far...

Re: Renting (Chicago) with no credit or SSN?

We've been here 6 days - no bank statement from the credit union account we've had 5 days and no payslip yet as my husband has only been working 5 days - and doesn't have his SSN.
Don't you have to...

We just moved here to the Chicago suburbs, and we're finding it impossible to find an apartment to rent without any credit history and no SSN. The SSNs were applied for this week but they're saying...

Re: L1B/L2 Visa - urgent!

Thanks a lot for your help. The papers we received to take to the Consulate mentioned that the passports have to be valid longer than the visas, which is something we had thought about but our lawyer...

Re: Finding housing in Amsterdam

I can also recommend the site Expatica as it's more visited by expats living in Holland than this one.
Makelaars (estate agents) normally charge one month's rent as commission. If you find one that...

Unhappy L1B/L2 Visa - urgent!

We just got the approval notice for the L1B visa of my husband but it doesn't give my name or my daughter's name - our lawyer is claiming that the L2 visas are given at the consulate appointment but...

Re: I'm glad my kids don't go to a UK school

So you can only discipline your children by hitting them, or at least shouting at them? No government has ever told parents they can't discipline their children, only that you can't use forms which...

Re: I'm glad my kids don't go to a UK school

I don't understand why people continue to think these events are down to the schools being at fault - it was the parents who burnt down someone's house! Sure the school should have been intervening...

Re: Does Canada permanent residence stamp impact L1 visa application
