Thanks for the comments, very helpful. Yes I do see the issues/dangers with currency rates and I agree, its not as simple a decision as I thought.

After a long discussion with an agent at the CRA who initially explained that yes I could, and that the T3 would not be needed just a statement of final benefits from the pension supplier.........

No idea, I followed a trail of links when I started looking at international pensions. I will ring the tax office monday see if I can get a difinitive answer.

This appears to be outside of the annual RRSP contribution...

Thanks for keeping me updated.
When you say IF you do not transfer the pension out of the UK, but just draw your monthly pension in GBP you will continue to be taxed in one place , ie for me...

No I don't want to put the whole of that pension into a Qrops, just the Tax free lump. But I also have another pension pot that I would want to transfer to a Qrops, but I can hold on for that one.....

Hi all, I have been in Canada permanently since 2006 and am now a citizen.
Reach 60 in July this year and have been contemplating how to minimise the tax liability for my pension tax free lump sum....

Ok Im being thick, or my questions are ambiguous..

PMM, when you say I interpreted correct, do you mean You CAN go out of the canadian "exit" and straight back through the Canadian "in gate"...

When my passports (with shiny new visas) arrive back here in 4 weeks or so, I would like to cross the border into the US and come straight back into Canada...

Where in Nova Scotia are you? We are on eastern shore (jeddore). Beautiful place.
We have the same update chart. That brings the total of photos each up to 9.
Would have been cheaper to get them...

Thanks fisherking. Your situation sounds almost identical to mine.
I notified CIC of my Canada address with my 90 day update and had medicals done here in Canada, only I continued to use the UK...

I am about to send my passports to CIC London for my Visa.
I am in Canada as a visitor and so will courier them to the UK.
Throughout my application my mailing address for CIC has been in the UK....

Request for passports finally arrived today (at my forwarding address in UK).
I am currently in Canada on a very long vacation, awaiting SWPR.

Is it permissable to send my passports to the UK...
