Re: New "dual" USC - travel question

This answer assumes that the US passport is worth a lot more than your
other country's passport in terms of mileage.

As a matter of fact, my other country's passport is considerably more...

Re: For Consul Dean: New border controls could penalise Britons with dual nationality

The US cannot mandate that you violate another country's laws. Apparently,
the UK does not require you to enter on a UK passport. But some countries
have the same law as the US. E.g. a good friend...

Re: Obama seeks to create a permanent Democratic majority

I never said such a thing.

And moreover, I never said anything about guilt either. The child of an illegal person (who was born outside the US and who
came to the US with the parent) has no...

Re: Obama seeks to create a permanent Democratic majority

Hi:

Thanks. These are powerful questions indeed. These questions may even inspire lofty ideals. However, perhaps our answers to these questions are not quite the same.

I do not feel the same...

Re: Obama seeks to create a permanent Democratic majority

In what way did I propose to make it more unfair to others?

Re: Obama seeks to create a permanent Democratic majority

I don't know. Usually, it's your own - you make your own luck. But, undeniably, some are born into such horrible conditions that they don't really have a fair chance. I don't know about those people,...

Re: Obama seeks to create a permanent Democratic majority

Tough - life is unfair. It is NOT our responsibility to make up for all the injustices in the world.

Re: Obama seeks to create a permanent Democratic majority

I share your views - as a liberal, but also being very suspect of such immigration reform.

I also don't understand why some states, such as California, will allow illegal immigrants to go to...

Baggage storage at Heathrow?

Hi:

Quick question. Transiting through Heathrow next week:

SAN-LAX-LHR to Frankfurt.

As it happens, I have a whole 10 hours to kill in London. Not planning to do much, but will probably want...

Re: anyone watching homeland security usa??

Actually, if you look at the final credits, this show is a copy of the Australian show, "Australian Customs and Border Protection," which I saw while on vacation there.

I rather enjoyed the...

Re: Newborn son (US) travelling back to UK with UK passport

You're taking a lot of risk. Who did you speak to at immigration? I really hope this was not the call centre number. Will this person vouch for you at the boarding gate in the UK? Upon arrival in the...

Re: Sending Christmas packages containing food to the USA

Other than the meat products, you should be fine. You're lucky - it's much harder the other way around. Try and send any food products to Australia.

Re: Christian America?

Yes, this is very true. Richard Dawkins, atheist and professor at Oxford University, makes a similar point in his book "The God Delusion." Roland, you would probably enjoy his book.

Somehow, US...

Re: In Britain for Christmas, left my GC in the States

As a matter of interest, am I the only one who had this experience? Did everyone usually get their green cards checked on the way out?

Re: In Britain for Christmas, left my GC in the States

I found all these comments about showing a GC on the way out very interesting. I recently travelled overseas, and on my way out, no one ask to see my GC - not when I checked my bags in San Diego, and...

Re: Fires - we've been evacuated!!

Yes, it is absolutely unbelievable! I am so thankful to be in Coronado - it would be hard for the fire to come all the way across the bridge! However, it doesn't stop the ash.

My friend is from Phoenix, AZ. She is not from the UK, but originally from Germany.
