Thinking of moving back - US husband

My husband and I have just started thinking about moving back to the UK.

I'm british, he's American and we have 2 children.

I just started reading about visas and the financial requirements and...

Re: Anyone Work From Home

I work from home on the internet, as does my husband.

Depends what you want to do whether its a scam or not - if its some great "work from home and you can make $$$" kind of offer you've seen...

Re: 10m want to quit 'over-taxed' UK

In my mind the reason why a speed camera is there is totally irrelevent. There could be a billion speed cameras in the UK all there in the hopes of raising revenue, but if you don't speed you won't...

Re: 10m want to quit 'over-taxed' UK

I admit I haven't time to read all those links but I kind of doubt "motercyclenews.com" is a totally unbiased publication on such matters.

It amazes me that the people who complain about speed...

Re: 10m want to quit 'over-taxed' UK

So how many of the claims you processed were from EU member countires? If those are the figures I'm talking about and you're talking about the total claims you processed it does make a difference.

Re: 10m want to quit 'over-taxed' UK

I actually said 500 out 350,000 immigrants from new EU member countries since they joined.

Re: 10m want to quit 'over-taxed' UK

I'm not sure what our average federal tax rate is as its tiered as in the UK but our marginal rate this year will be 25% I think, plus we pay 15.3% social security up to about $85,000 each (we're...

Re: 10m want to quit 'over-taxed' UK

I'm pretty sure this is another misconception. I think I remember reading on the BBC about the number of immigrants from new EU countries - about 350,000. Of them only about 500 had made and income...

Re: 10m want to quit 'over-taxed' UK

I'm sorry to break it to you but private care is pretty crap too. The only people I personally know that have had problems in the Uk were both with private care - in both cases sending them home too...

Re: 10m want to quit 'over-taxed' UK

I don't think people want to leave because they've seen how much more efficient other governments are with tax money, its just that they perceive other governments to be more efficient...

Re: air miles - dumb question

I think it requires a full fare ticket, though, which usually costs more than twice what you can get a ticket for anyway

Re: Drivers who annoy me!

We live about 20 miles out of town and most of the ways we drive in are single lane each way, 55 mph roads. I get really irritated by people who just pull out in front of us without taking into...

Re: Keeping up the stereotype

Don't know what your surgery would be like but I had some done on my jaw back in the UK. I had a cyst in my jaw and it had to be taken out. It hurt like hell for about a week afterwards so don't go...

Re: Returning from New Zealand

Having lived in the US for 3 years with private health care, I'd take the NHS any day. I've heard more bad stories from people I actually know over here than I ever had in the UK and even if you...

Re: The Animals at Work!

Seems to be more common to bring your pet to work here. My husband used to work somewhere where the office manager would bring her dog into the office and the place he worked before that someone...

Re: The 10 costliest cars to insure

 we're number 4! I didn't think it was that expensive - I guess I don't have anything to compare it to never having had a car before - is $400 for 6 months really expensive??

Hi

I'm expecting a baby in the next few weeks and we're planning to go back to the UK for Christmas but I'm getting a little worried about how long it will take to get him a passport.

I looked...

Re: Citizens Pony Up for Green Energy

We pay extra each month for renewable energy - we've always done it since we moved here so we don't notice the price difference. I checked our last bill and it was $8 extra.

I don't have any idea...

Re: Is anyone getting the game in HD?

I'm watching on the channel that would have ABC in HD if it was available. I guess they're just not bothering here. I think I'll be sending them an email!

Re: US Newborn death rate ranks 2nd Worst

I think I'm one of the few lucky ones over here. I'm almost 6 months pregnant and I'm going to see a midwife instead of a doctor. I can also have the baby at a birth center rather than the hospital...
