I would suggest Australia myself.

Things are a bit bleak back home in NZ. Winters are not well catered for either, so be aware.

Also, very strict quarantine process for pets to NZ,...

Just be aware that heat pumps have the issue of having to stop and defrost when temperature get really cold.

We live in Thames, which is mild compared to further south.

Well I think you need to do the numbers and see if it gives you figures you are happy with. No point living hand to mouth week to week. It won't matter if you live in Utopia if you stuggle...
