Hi ,

Indian constitution does not allow dual citizenship. The closest you can get is called OCI ( Overseas citizenship of India ) which gives you unlimited entry into India without a visa but not...

Hi All,

Just wanted to say Ive received my citizenship approval letter today. Its posted from Canberra even though I applied in Sydney and signed by the minister Chris Evans.

No specific date just told it could take upto 6 months and said I would receive a letter from the council on the exact dates

Spoke to a lady on the unpublished line only to be advised ceremony will take atleast 6 months ;)

Can permanent residents complain to their Federal MP's? I always thought this avenue was only open to citizens. Let us know how you go.

I applied end of July and still waiting for an approval letter. Guess its taking around 3 months if you apply online these days..

Hi mate, I dont believe the reference ID is mandatory, just enter your passport details and visa number and it should take you right into the application.

My reference was on the top right corner...

It took 2 months to even get an appointment for the test at sydney. Perhaps its the workload and backlog

Em, not sure..its a standard application. No exemptions of any sort, have'nt left the country in 2 years, no criminal record ( well atleast nothing that I am aware of ), PCCs not needed.

Thanks for your reply. Just spoke to DIAC Citizenship helpline and the person advised that apps online take about 3-5 months. I just hope its not that long.

I don't think its based on years of residence. I've been here 6 years almost. Did you apply online or at a branch office?

I've noticed online takes longer than applications submitted in person....
